From December 6, 2023 – December 8, 2023, the 26th annual Ho Chi Minh City Cancer Prevention Conference took place at Hall C – Oncology Hospital 2 – Thu Duc City. The conference was organized with the participation of Prof.Dr. Tran Van Thuan – Deputy Minister of Health, PhD. Dang Xuan Dung – Director of Ho Chi Minh Oncology Hospital and nearly 500 delegates, leaders and doctors from Oncology units across the country.

This year, the Conference brings a pre-conference program on cancer by Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital in conjunction with leading international experts. In addition, the Conference also offered discussion topics on Epidemiology, screening; Early detection of cancer, General, pulmonary – thoracic, digestive, pediatric – urogenital oncology; Breast glands, gynecology, hematology, head and neck; Pathology, palliative care, nursing, radiological techniques.
Breast cancer is one of the topics of this year’s conference that has attracted a lot of attention from many leading doctors and cancer experts. In Vietnam, breast cancer is the leading cancer and cervical cancer is the eighth in terms of incidence per 100,000 people. With the alarming number of cancer cases increasing in women today, at the conference, leading doctors and cancer experts presented presentations on treatment methods. Modern and community strategies to increase cancer awareness and prevention. Specifically, Dao Van Tu, MD. PhD – Director, Cancer Research and Clinical Trials Center Head of Optimal Therapy Deparment – K Hospital brought a seminar on the topic “Rationale for the overall survival improvement of CDK4/6 inhibitors in the treatment of HR+ HER2- metastatic breast cancer” or Prof. Guy Jerusalem, MD – Head of Medical Oncology – Director of the breast clinic – University Hospital Center (CHU) in Liège, Belgium raised the topic “Individualized therapy in HR+ HER2 advanced/metastatic breast cancer subgroups with visceral metastasis, rapid progression, or visceral crisis“. These topics brought to the Conference a lively discussion atmosphere as well as interest and input from leading doctors and medical experts on cancer across the country.
