On November 29 – December 1, 2017, the 20th Annual Cancer Conference in Ho Chi Minh city was held with the participation of Prof. Ph.D. Nguyen Chan Hung – Chairman of the Vietnam Cancer Society, Ph.D. Pham Xuan Dung – Director of HCMC Oncology Hospital; leaders of other oncology hospitals/departments; speakers come from USA, Australia, Singapore and more than 400 doctors specializing in oncology across the country.

Opening Address by Ph.D. Pham Xuan Dung – Head of the organizing committee

2017 is the first year that the conference organized a pre-conference training session on breast cancer treatment to update knowledge, exchange experiences between domestic and foreign doctors and have a better overview of the breast cancer field.

Worldwide, the incidence rate for all cancers is around 14 million per year together with 8 million death cases. In Vietnam, there were an estimated 100,000 new cancer cases each year. Between 30 and 50% of cancers can currently be prevented by avoiding risk factors and implementing the existing screening methods.

Prof. Ph.D. Nguyen Chan Hung – Chairman of the Vietnam Cancer Society

The Vietnam cancer treatment network recognizes the improvement in treatment quality and quantity. In particular, the cancer incidence rate in late stages has decreased from 60-70% to 30-40% in 2016 – 2017. New techniques such as PET-CT, biopsies, genetic testing… have been widely used for early diagnosis. In addition, most hospitals apply laparoscopic surgery and even robots for treatment. However, the cancer industry faces a high growth rate, from 8.8-9.9% per year. This requires to develop screening and early detection to control and prevent the late stage of cancer.

Viet Phap with the product Aloxi (Palonosetron) and Cosmegen (Dactinomycin) is pleased to sponsor the 20th Annual Cancer Conference in Ho Chi Minh City. We look forward to accompanying and contributing to the treatment – prevention of cancer as well as improving the quality of life of Vietnamese patients.
