On December 7th, 2024, the 4th National Scientific Conference organized by the Vietnam Society for Parenteral Enteral Nutrition (VietSPEN) at the Intercontinental Nha Trang Hotel was a great success.
This conference was organized with the theme: “Nutrition in cancer, severe illness and after discharge to increase treatment effectiveness”. The conference was attended by 630 nutrition, oncology, and resuscitation experts nationwide and from many countries around the world. The conference provided knowledge on nutrition for critically ill patients, nutritional care after leaving the ICU, refeeding, cancer, etc.
Viet-Phap cooperated with Aguettant to organize the Parenteral Nutrition Pre-Conference Session on the afternoon of December 6th, 2024 with the participation of Chair, Dr. Luu Thi Ngan Tam (President of VietSPEN Association, co-chair Dr. Truong Duong Tien (Intensive Care Unit, Cho Ray Hospital), Reporter, Dr. Tam, Dr. Huynh Van Binh (ICU Department – Gia Dinh People’s Hospital).
The workshop brought up a new topic: The role of trace minerals and Selenium for ICU patients, because for a long time, trace minerals have been understood by the medical community as supplementary micronutrients and have not been given due importance. However, recent science has proven the essential role of some trace minerals in improving the recovery rate as well as the mortality rate in critically ill patients, for example, Phosphorus, recently Selenium… Nutrition for critically ill patients should be considered as important as treatment drugs.
