In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic broke out strongly on a global scale, causing severe consequences for people, societies and economies around the world. Fortunately, Vietnam has succeeded in controlling the pandemic thanks to strong response policies from the government. Control activities have been implemented including social distancing and blockaded areas.
Joining hands with the whole country to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic, Viet Phap is proud to be the only distributor providing Bactrim drug for the treatment of patient number 91. This is the British pilot – the most severe Covid-19 case in Vietnam which was treated at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Bactrim is a trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole combination antibiotic used to treat many bacterial infections, particularly pneumonia caused by Burkholderia cepacia/COVID-19.
In Vietnam, Bactrim is not available, so Cho Ray hospital contacted and request us to import the drug. Faced with the urgent situation when patient number 91 rapidly deteriorated, leading to multi-organ failure, Viet Phap immediately contacted and ordered Bactrim from Singapore. In parallel, it is necessary to apply for a license for Bactrim with the Ministry of Health, so that we can import the drug and complete the custom clearance as quickly as possible. Because we understand that this is a tough race against time to save the life for patient number 91. Therefore, Bactrim was brought to Vietnam quickly and promptly, helping patients overcome many fragile critical moments between life and death. Viet Phap is proud to contribute a part in the treatment of patient number 91 – a miracle of Vietnam’s medical history.
After that, Bactrim is also used to treat other Covid-19 patients in Da Nang city. In addition, we accompany Bach Mai Hospital – the frontline hospital against the pandemic, contributing a part to disease control activities in the whole country. Closing 2020 with many difficulties and fluctuations, it is hoped that the pandemic situation keeps being well controlled, the economy will steadily develop and all Vietnamese people will return to normal life with peace and happiness.
